As far as I know, there is no code for engine paint, just a color description.
In 77 the color of all GM engines was changed to blue. I believe it was called Corporate Blue.

As a matter of fact it does. And it's the correct Chevrolet orange. When I got it there was a little bit, but peeling and ugly. Much better now.

For whatever it is worth there are also engines that are Painted Black. They are from Canada. I doubt any got into Vettes but a lot of them made it in Trucks that were also Built in Canada. I used to own one,a 89 3/4 ton. Richard...

Corporate blue went alway later. Almost all of the newer ones are black. The engine in my 89 is black.
