Engine not Centered

I was working on the engine for a 78, some guy came in the shop to see if we can make some parts to cover the engine. As i was measuring to get the center it looks like the engine is one inch off centered. I come home and check on my 80 and its the same thing. If i measure the center of the carb to the fender it's different than the otherside. Just wandering if anyone notice this or it's just these two cars.

Now to worry,they come that way,I read an artical about it, my 72 is the same way,take a look at your steering column,mine comes up a little left to right
