Can I get the engine crossmember out without removing the engine?

Not done much to my vette as we have been hit hard by the credit crunch but looking to do some work on it this year.

Hi Marcia/Jack!! Haven't seen ya'll on here lately, but I've been meaning to e-mail ya to check up on ya.

The engine crossmember is a welded part of the frame...no way to remove it, short of cutting it out, which would require engine removal...
Why do you need it out?

Yeah...I know the feeling! It sounds like the only choices are to either use leather arm protectors, or pull the engine...either way sux!
