What is the color of the engine block, etc. on a 79?  Where is the block ser. number located?

Thanks

So if the block and headcovers are orange than it's not the original?

Not necessarily. The engine may have been out, and painted somewhere down the line. If the VIN stamped on the front of the block matches the VIN of the car, then the block itself, at least, is original.
Have you been able to check the block stamping on the front to see?

Here is an example of an engine pad stamping, to give you an idea of what you're looking for. Hope it helps some.

Thanks, I'll check it out.  The reason I am curious is that the car seems to have more get up and go than 195HP 350 normally would.
