Vette(s): 1976 White, black interior, all numbers match, Cragars, Headers, clean L48 engine.
I want to put the Jegs Low-Pro Intake/Dual Quad Carb Kit 350-54254K  on my 1976...
Does anyone know if the stock hood will have enough clearance.
Dan

Dan,

I believe either Cat Craft or Hot Rod recently did a review of engine mods and benefits and it included a comparison of different carb/intake set ups including a dual quad. If I recall the results correctly, there wasnt much benefit, although it looks really sweet!

Also, consider that that's a lot of gas to be dumping into small valve, smog heads, and a relatively mild cam...unless you're upgrading...

I'll see if I can dig up the article for ya. Good luck!

Dan,

Found the article: September 2007 Car Craft - article entltied "Are premium parts worth the price?".

CC tested a traditional Edelbrock dual quad, a new Air Gap dual quad and a Performer RPM Air Gap single 800 CFM 4 bbl - the single 4 was the winner by 10+ HP and 10+ TQ  #s over the air gap dual and 32 HP and 19 TQ better than the flat, older style Edelbrock dual quad.

There was more tuning to do, however, this article sticks out in my mind as something for you to consider, depending on how "stock" your engine is currently.

Good luck again and I hope this is helpful for you.Big%20smile

Dan,

Check of the manufacturers web site. I can tell you that Edelbrock had specific clearanec notes for C3s when I purchased my performer RPM...

Good luck and let us know how you make out.Thumbs%20Up

Dan.... i once put a vintage dual quad intake on the 76, not sure its the same set up as you are looking at, but this intake came off a 1958 vette, it had 2 Carter carbs, at 630 cfm each... and as for the hood clearance, no, the front carb air cleaner would hit the hood.... had to use a standard distributor, the HEI was too large around to fit...and the motor was a stock engine... which was its downfall as the dual quads after about 3 weeks or so washed out about 3 cylinders/pistons.. :) .... might suggest using 2 small carbs(like 390 to 450 cfm)... have to agree that it did look neat under the hood :)    Good Luck
