I was talking to a guy on the phone about doing some work on my vette. He told me he had 33 years experience and he works on cars at his house. I told him I had a 350 engine and I told him I had a AVS 650 edelbrock carb He told me it was to small for the engine. He said I needed a 700 I have a 350 with a light cam. Can anyone tell me if that carb I just got will work?

The carb you have is fine. It's about optimum for your engine the way you describe it.

i agree with gunslinger.
i have an edelbrock 600 cfm (with a mild cam) on my 350 and it works fine.
i was always told to use the smallest cfm carb for your setup.

don't know how true that is though....

I also agree..the AVS(Air Valve Secondary) is just a evolution of the AFB(Aluminuminum Four Barrel), and a great carb, for most applications. Perhaps the guy feels it may be jetted too small, but the airflow capacity should be fine.
