I'm talking about the body.............just above the shaft it looks like there are some remains of black paint along with surface rust. I am cleaning it up and then painting it.

Vette(s): 74 coupe 4 speed 350, 54K actual miles, all original; paint, interior, engine, split bumper. #'s match. 2nd owner, no stress cracks.
I see the link is to HEI.
Just curious, is converting from my stock to HEI worth it?

Definitely yes. Higher spark voltage. No points to wear out and adjust. Better performance, plugs last longer, better fuel economy....need I go on.............  corvette440hp2008-04-19 10:31:59

Unless you want to go for NCRS or Bloomington Gold and need to keep it original, I agree with Larry.

I converted my 72 last year and am very pleased.  It starts quicker, idles better and just seems to run smoother.Thumbs%20Up  Gas mileage has improved also.Smile

The only problem is that I wanted to keep the stock look with the ignition shielding so I also ordered the 75 chrome cover because the HEI is larger.
The larger chrome cover will not clear the original air cleaner.Cry  I'm going to try and modify it somehow and make it fit. Stern%20Smile  Maybe someone else has had this same problem and has come up with a solution.Question

The original distributer would be a natural, cast iron body...
