This past week I saw a vette engine with distributor cap paint same color as body.Along with some other engine accesories,it all looked really good.My question only pertains to the smooth surfaced cap.Do you suppose it was scuffed and epoxy primered or some other method?

You can just lightly scuff, prime with a light coat of automotive primer, and paint.  Don't forget to mask the electrode holes and seal of the inside.

Be aware that some types of paint can conduct electricity, so be careful not to get paint on the plug-wire towers themselves. This could cause mis-firing...

Another tip...Overspray on spark plugs will cause the ignition spark to travel down the outside of the plug, instead of going thru the center of the plug electrode. Always be sure to clean any paint off of your spark plugs after painting your engine...
