I had my car checked out and was told it needs a differential rebuild. They don't think the gears are bad, but the clutches are shot. They have several used differentials for $550 or for an extra $350 they can rebuild mine. They stated they would give me a two year warranty one of the used units. They are a well known and reputable Corvette Restoration Dealer. Is the general concensus to get it rebuilt?

IF the only problem with your diff is the clutches are damaged, I can't see buying a new diff for that. Are the used diffs rebuilt, or "as is"? If "as is", then you're taking a chance on the replacement being worse than what you have now. If the used ones are completely rebuilt(new bearings, clutches, seals, etc.), then it might be a good deal....

I can't afford to pay anyone to fix anything, but if I could, I wouldn't have anything done until I just couldn't live with the problem anymore.
