It is really difficult if you have blown out the rear drive shaft u-joint and it has beaten around in the area.  71Shark and I had to "persuade" the front of the pumpkin to rotate downward and "gently remove" some bent metal around the metal bushing area.
 
It is a good hour with the car up in the air.  Certainly not the hardest job, or the most technically complex (transmissions still scare me), but it will try your patience.
