Hey Dave... Somebody's gotta take up the slack til Joel gets back. LOL
I just went out and checked.... one turn of the axle was just barely over 3 turns of the driveshaft. To be a 3:36, it would have had to turn more than a 1/4 turn, but it was less than half of that. Must be a 3:08. No wonder I didn't have much torque. Disapprove Whadda ya gotta do to go to 3:36 ratio, just change the ring and pinion? Expensive?

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

Thanks, but where are those codes located? I'll look again in the morning, but I don't remember seeing those.  Dwain

For the crossmember removal ther are two ways, the easy way or the hard way. Some will pop and drop and some will be a be-ootch. You got the hard way. Get the bigest prybar you got, loosen the bolts about half way out so as to not drop it and pry like fudge. Stay out from underneath! They are notoriously difficult to get out. Do yourself or whoever does it again a favor by putting never sneeze on the pockets when you reassemble.
When I compleatly rebuilt my rear suspension(trailing arms which I rebuilt myself,TRW mono spring,Bilstien shocks, new HD half shafts, new 3.73 rear gears and posi unit). I put in only stronger upgrades. HD inner axles $125.00 each, a HD carrier bearing support (Steel cap) on the left side where it does the most good (wider bearing support,1/2" vs 7/16 bolts)from Tomsdifferential.com. $69.00 and the newest(and stronger) Eaton posi unit $500.00 from Gears Are Us. R&P should cost about $250.00+ plus the setup kit of aprox $100.00+ and installation fee of about $250.00 The Corvettes weak link is it's rear end. You can go as strong as your wallet will let you but who's counting right?.
I took out a set of 3.36 gears and inner axles out of my 76. They are in excellent condition. Also I have enough new stuff to rebuild the carrier(posi unit). If you want anything let me know. I will make you a good deal.custom762007-02-12 00:51:29

Dwain,

I dunno.... I have never messed with my diff. It's a 3:55 and since I went to a 700R4 with a .7 OD 4th, it's perfect. It was revvy on the highway with the TH350 though....

Thanks custom76 for the source tips.... my diff is fine now...... but.....

Dave
