Vette(s): 1979, Targa Blue (72 Color), Pace Car rear spoiler, L88 hood, Dark blue factory interior, 525HP 406, HD 700R4, 370 gears,Steeroids, composite rear spring, TT IIs wrapped in T/A Radials.
Hey team,

My question - How deep is too deep?? I am putting a Moroso 7 Qt pan on the 406 and the kick out pan is way too close to the headers. The straight pan is 2" deeper than stock. Still within safe boundaries? Anyone go this route?

I'll measure when I get back in town, but thought I'd throw this into the tank to see what the fellow sharks say...

Just noticed this went into new member intros. How do I change this to the correct forum??

Thanks!Big%20smile

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary model. Original L82 engine, 700r4 trans, edelbrock intake, thorly headers, rack&pinion steering, mono rear and front spring, MSD 6A box
I put one of them there Moroso deep pans on mine.  Don't drive faster than 2 miles an hour over speed bumps.  Switched to the Moroso low pro- file 7 qt (8 with filter) pans and it fixed the problem around speed bumps.

Moroso 7 qt on my black 79. No clearance issues with the exhaust. I think it's only 1" deeper.
I also only get 6 qts of oil in it? I think! 7 total with the big filter. Gotta pay closer attention next oil change....

Do you know the part number for the pan you used?

Sorry. Bigger pic than I usually post.
My pan part no. was 1952, but that was in 1984. Don't know if that number's still currant.
