As you now know, it does take a lot of force. The key way is not an issue during removal. And you don't need to wait on the silicone. Fire it up.

I've just been on another thread about the things we learn!
You should be able to perform a timing chain replacement now in five minutes!!
Hope it fires up and you can get cruising.

Maybe not five minutes, but it was alot quicker, I took it for a ride a few hours ago. It is running good now. May have even gotten a few hp back from the tired old gears that were in there. I haven't even checked the timing yet.
