Crossmember removal

Quick question, I'm changing to a mono spring and looking to install a heavy duty differential cover and wanted to know how? can I remove the differential cover and the two bolts that's holding the crossmember to the frame and take it down as a complete unit?

All I know is that when I took off my crossmember it was a pain in the back side..it tooks some good ol even with the weight of the entire diff. hanging on to it. Having differential off the car made it much easier to clean and change the gasket. I was told by some that you really don't need the heavy duty cover. The guy at van steel said that most of them break when putting them back into the car and putting bolts in to tight not when driving.

i consur.. that crossmember is a pain..

i got a friend of mine who weighs 300 lbs to jump on each side.. didnt budge.. took a really long prybar to break those sombrero bushings loose.

and if the car is old like mine.. they may fall apart when you do it

How much work will it take to removing the differential, seems like most of the work is in removing the crossmember?

just remove the spring.. then take off the strut rod bracket.. leave the rods on.. just pull both wheels outward and it will fall to ground.. still adjusted..

then the front mount bolt.. and the four bolts to crossmember..

I have removed the crossmember now what does it take to remove those bushings?

Anyone awake yet after a long night?
