Otay ya'll...apparently old age has taken it's toll on me pea-brain...this is the top shield I have, that I believed was off of one of my old '72 Vettes. I know I've been hanging on to this thing for years, and for some reason, I'da swore it is off the '72.
Further examination reveals it is NOT from a '72, but from a '75/6/7!!! How in the h e l l I ever got one of these in my possession is beyond me. Mystery(at least part of it) solved.

Now, I gotta figure out where the heck this thing came from! My apologies for my senility...

Well OK Guys....Guess I got the correct shielding as far as what is pictured here. Just went out to the garage and took the winter cover off to see where things bolted to.  Left side is pretty straight forward........however the right side (passenger side if I am correct) looks like at the end of the crome leg it gets bolted some where but not sure??  Can anyone describe where this bolts to?? At least the distributer shield will be easy.Confused

Here are the other pieces I am still also questioning. I get a sense that the crome "V" parts go to my car   and maybe the long black pieces dont???? Anyhow....can someone describe where these go?? I assume they are heat shields that go on the bottom of the exhaust manifold, But not sure where or how??anything missing here that I need to mount them??  Thanks Again

I think the "V" pieces route the front two spark plug wires for each bank of cylinders. These "V' shaped pieces are retained by the bolts that hold the spark plug shields. The bottom of the 'V' goes close to the oil pan, they may even go behind the motor mount. Paragon's catalog has good photos of the way the things go together.

Okay Eric..... Here is what you should have. Only question left is that I am not sure when the 1 piece top was put into production. It is on my 76 but how much earlier I am not sure. If I were bettin I would say 73 or 74

It looks to me you have all of the upper shielding. As noted earlier there yet remains the spark plug shielding which connects to this too.

Hope this helps to unravel some more of the shielding mystery on your 70. Maybe some of the other fellas would like to have the xtra parts you and Joel found.
Ho..Ho..Ho.. Pay it Forward.....

My 72 has the one piece top that is in one of Eric's pics.  I'm sure it is origional as I have owned it since 1973.  Build date on my 72 is March 17, 1972.

The shielding on my 70 had the V's at the bottom and the entire distributor was covered on the sides. It also had the shielding going down the sides of the block that held the plug wires. However I did not have the shields that are in the round shape near the manifolds. Since I moved I have not came across the box that has the shielding in it. If I come across it, I will dig it out and shoot a picture of what I have and post it back on here.

Well Thanks for all the info guys......After doing a little more digging on line, and in LOTS of parts books and restoration guides...this is what I have learned...the smaller, simpler distributor shield I have is correct, although ceratinly not as nice as the earlier example. They started using it mid way through July...and into the 71 and72 years, This also coinsides with the timeframe for my dual snorkel air filter ...also wich is correct for cars built in mid July 1970 or later, and also for the front grills that my car now has that look like they are for a 71 or 72, but mid July they started using those as well. Tongue Might never be perfect, but, it will be as close as I can get it without goin' broke.  Now if someone has a set of spark plug shields............ (rear left and right), .....that they can sell cheap....Give a yell, Thats all I need to complete the ignition shielding!! Actually I should also mention Chevy did go back and forth with the front grills a little after mid JULY 1970 , some EARLY 1971   cars had the early 70 style grills for a time....maybe they found a forgotten pile that was set aside and needed to use  'em up!
