I'm thinking about getting a crate motor. I know about Edelbrock's, GM's ZZ4 line, and  vairous others. I looking to see if anyone knows of or used any others. I'm not looking for a super exotic motor, but not a boat anchor either. Somewhere between 425-450HP. also it has to be a small block

Don't know any details on your car, but if it's stock, you may be pushing the envelope of your drive train with those HP numbers.

All of your drive train was built to stand up to the factory 450 HP engines of the early 70's, so if everything is healthy, you should be OK.  You might also check the GM crate engines.  They can be competitive in price, and have a GM warranty.

Edelbrock has a fuel injected 440 horse/ 425 torque 350 small block. It comes with a two year warranty. Computer/wiring harnesss and all neccessary parts are included. They also make a 435 hp/435 tourqe 350 (carburated). You WIILL have poblems with a normal stock hood. The engine will be delivered right to your door.......shipping is included in the price. Good luck on your dream project!

I wanted to compair just a few more crate motor options than I listed, so it was good info. I'm not worried about hood clearence. I will be adding gussets in the frame were needed.  I have new offset trailing arms, smart strut rods, 360 fiberglass spring, 4spd,4.11 diff, diff cross member reinforcing kit, 550lbs front springs, spreader bar, VBP upper A-arms, 1 3/8" tubular front sway bar. 3'' half shafts and a few more thing to be added. It was originally big block car
