Just bought my first vette, and I always wanted to run crager wheels. I heard that they won't fit due to clearance issue, and spacers are needed, and you need to tighen them every 50 miles. does anyone run cragers on their vette?

Vette(s): 1975 Coupe NOM 350: Edelbrock 64cc heads, QJet clone, Performer manifold & cam, gear drive and water pump; MSD ProBillet dist and 6A box, Comp rollers, Hedman headers into true duals, Magnaflow cans,TH400 w/shift kit, TT2's, 3.70RA, hi-rise hood
I believe the new style ForgedAlloy Cragars will fit without spacers. And I KNOW American Racing TorqThrust II's fit without spacers ... because I'm running them!

WAIT, think before you buy. every vette on the road has those wheels. Do you want to stand out or blend in.
I would try another wheel. I have them to. If you find
my welcome tread here, It will give you the site to my ride. Take a look for yourself. Later |hammer|

Hey,

I have a 72 with Crager SS wheels they look pretty cool. You can see my wheels if you click on my name to the left.

I actually just got the car in October and just 2 nights ago took the wheels off to clean-up the brakes. There is a spacer piece that fits on the front of the rotor. It is not bolted on it just sits loose.

I thought that may be the way all vettes of this vintage were set-up but now that you mention it maybe they are in fact for the tires.

I cannot tell you where they came from but that is my comments. Hope they help!!

P.S. I have had no issue to date of the bolts coming loose. I will keep an eye out for that!

I'm going way back, to the 70's. I ran them, sold them, and loved them, and want a set!
You needed a spacer front & rear then, and usedan extra long shank lug nut, and I NEVER had a problem with loose lugs, ever. I ran them on several cars and always thought they were the sharpest wheel around. On a vintage Corvette, go for it! Wish I could find a nice set of used 15X7's. nyone want to sell??? Enjoy! |thumb|
