Anyone ever see center bolt valve covers that look like the factory finned signature covers?  I have a set of covers that I might try to machine to allow for the center bolts but only if its a perfect fit.  No sense wasting a perfectly good set of mid year valve covers.

PLEEEEASE do NOT bore holes in original "Script" valve covers!!! Sell them, and buy some reproductions if you must, be please don't ruin a set of originals....that's just downright rude!

I have never seen the type you describe, but there may be some out there somewhere. I don't know how you would locate the two bolts holes without going thru the lettering somewhere, but who knows?
There are adapters for the center bolt heads that allow you to install the earlier, 4 bolt perimeter valve covers. Perhaps that would be the way to go...

I shall succomb to your wishes, oh great moderator(stated with tongue firmly planted in cheek)...I really didn't need much convincing.  As I was typing the original post I was laughing to myself saying "yeah, you're gonna ruin a set of originals!".

I checked with my brother, who was going to have these machined at work. The holes for the breather hole would be ok but we both have alot of concern for the real possibility of cracking when I try to tighten them using ctr bolts.

I guess I'll keep them...1 set of parts down towards a c2 rebuildWink

Adapters are available so you can run the older perimeter style valve covers on a center bolt cylinder head.  That's far easier and preferable to machining a set of valve covers to fit.  I'm not even sure the perimeter type will fit the edges of the center bolt head without leaking.

Summit Racing and Jegs carry them.
