Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.
O.K. Guys, need a little help. I replaced the nylon oil pressure line from the engine to the gauge with a copper line from Sunpro. The line came with ferrels that were a little odd shaped, flat on one end (where the nut will press against) and pointed at the end that goes in the fitting on the back of the gauge. I put this together once and ended up with 1/2 qt oil on my carpet. Looking at the 90 degree fitting on the gauge, the hole where the ferrel goes in about 1/4" deep. I don't have the old nylon line anymore, so I don't know if it is supposed to have the barrel type ferrel or the pointed one, anyone have one apart? I want to try to figure this out first so I don't end up with another mess.
Thanks,
Matt

Did you buy the oil line kit for a vette? If so , it should work. I put a new line kit in mine and just left the gauge cluster loose until I was satisfied it wasn't leaking. 65 lbs at idle and no problems.
I really don't remember the shape of the ferrel for mine, but a vette line kit should work. A couple of seconds run time should be all you need to know if it's leaking or not. You could also disconnect the coil wire and turn it over a few times first, just to do a low pressure check.
If the ferrel goes all the way into the fitting on the gauge and the nut won't compress it, you will have a leak.

Thanks Guys. I'll give it a try tomorrow and post the results. I'll havy my fingers crossed.
