Help, I installed new springs, ball joints, new bushings in the control arms and put it all back together and when I went to install the shock on the drivers side the spring appears to be out of the pocket it's designed for, how can I get the spring over without taking the ball joint apart.

Please anyone have a bright idea? I don't want to hammer on the new ball joint.

You might try unbolting the lower control arm at the frame. (2 bolts on one end & 1 on the other) Make SURE you have a good floor jack under the control arm first!! Then lower the jack, carefully. This might take enough pressure off of the spring to move it into position. I did the same thing when I put my '74 back together, and I did this, along with a stout prybar, and got the spring back into position. Good luck !! |thumb| |thumb| |wavey|

Pulling the inner bushings will work. Just be very carfull of the spring tension.

Or go to Autozone and rent a spring compresser. It goes inside the spring, and can relieve enough tension to rotate the spring.
