Saturday, as I was onramping to the 405, whilst shifting into second gear.............WHAM, my clutch pedal went to the floor - and stayed there!

Fortunately, I was able to finesse it into third and made it most of the way home (almost all freeway). When I finally got off the freeway, and got into traffic I finally killed it, and of course, without being able to disengage the clutch, was not able to restart. Flat-bedded it the mile to my house.
It turns out that one of the Bubbas who owned the vehicle before me, decided that welding the clutch pedal lever of the bellcrank assembly was a better idea than buying a new bellcrank..........the weld let go.
Well, now at least I have something to do this weekend.

Sorry to hear that BOB. At the very least you weren't in the middle of nowhere. At least you can get it fixed properly. Have fun!

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Yikes! Glad it sounds like everything turned out ok.
I think I'd panic...

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I know you can shift from third to neutral and from neutral to second by getting the RPMs correct, but can you shift from neutral to first at a dead stop?
Without dropping parts of the driveline on the road?

Congratulations on getting within a mile of your house.

BTDT. 40 yrs ago I could make it all the way home most of the time by running stop signs, but with todays traffic, impossible. Good try bro.

The answer to your question, is a simple NO! That's where I had to just shut-'er-down.

You can start out from a start by putting it in first, then cranking the starter and firing it up. It's a bit rough, but it works.
