I got all my linkage put back on the car and the adjustment seems to be wrong for a brand new clutch. Even though I used a vette aluminum bell housing, I suspect the culprit is the pivot ball for the fork. Anybody have an alternative opinion?

What is wrong with it?

Some specifics about what you are expecting versus the actual experience would be helpful.

What I'm getting is on the final adjustment. I only have about 3/4 of an inch of adjustment rod left. It's a brand new clutch and I only surfaced the flywhell about .020. It should adjust out with about 2 inches of thread left for wear adjustment. I also replaced the rod from the clutch fork, the old one was pretty worn.
The reason I suspect the pivot ball is I'm pretty sure there are 2 different lengths. I really don't want to have to drop the tranny.

How about replacing the (threaded) adjustment rod with a longer one?

That's a thought, but it would have to be fabricated wouldn't it?
Maybe I'll get a better idea how bad it is when I get the beast running. After doing a body off it's going to be disappointing to have to get back under the car to take the tranny out if I did something wrong!

According to my service manual(this for a 79, tho) the L48 and L82 each use a distinctive ball stud. This may very well be the situation for your 69. Mike
