I got all my linkage put back on the car and the adjustment seems to be wrong for a brand new clutch. Even though I used a vette aluminum bell housing, I suspect the culprit is the pivot ball for the fork. Anybody have an alternative opinion?

What is wrong with it? |headscratch|
Some specifics about what you are expecting versus the actual experience would be helpful. |thumb|

What I'm getting is on the final adjustment. I only have about 3/4 of an inch of adjustment rod left. It's a brand new clutch and I only surfaced the flywhell about .020. It should adjust out with about 2 inches of thread left for wear adjustment. I also replaced the rod from the clutch fork, the old one was pretty worn.
The reason I suspect the pivot ball is I'm pretty sure there are 2 different lengths. I really don't want to have to drop the tranny.

How about replacing the (threaded) adjustment rod with a longer one?

That's a thought, but it would have to be fabricated wouldn't it?
Maybe I'll get a better idea how bad it is when I get the beast running. After doing a body off it's going to be disappointing to have to get back under the car to take the tranny out if I did something wrong! |cussing|

According to my service manual(this for a 79, tho) the L48 and L82 each use a distinctive ball stud. This may very well be the situation for your 69. Mike
