The "Snowflake" identifies the "Winters" foundry as the supplier of the part. Winters did most, if not all of the aluminum castings for GM.
This is something that us "experts"( ) look for when judging these parts, or even searching through the bone-yards/swap-meets for goodies. The aftermarket stuff will not have this "snowflake", and, therefore, not be "original"
