I had to use a 1/2" tall spacer on top of the cvarb for my 73. The vacuum modual sticks out so my 12" dia stock filter would hit on it. check my home page to see pics of it.

There's a Holley spread-bore under the air cleaner on "The Toy". The only problems I've had with it was being hard to start when the engine was warm. Putting a spacer kit between the intake manifold and the carb dropped the physical temperature of the carb tremendously and the warm start problems have gone away.

I got my airbox problem licked. I am using a stock filter for now, but will get the K&N. I didn't need a spacer with the edelbrock 1405 carb.

I'm also living here in frosty Nova Scotia.
I have a 78 L82 with 67000 kms.
I'm keeping it stock and plan to have the carb rebuilt by pros in To.
Its hard to get a good carb rebuild around here.
Why are you taking apart an engine with such low kms??
Oh.. where about in this great province do you live??
