Vette(s): Re-acquired 1982 Bright Blue Vette from the guy a sold it to 13 years ago. 1993 40th Anniv. Ruby Convertible- purchased for my wifes 40th birthday-It has Chromed Grand Sport Wheels, Grand Sport Flares and a functional rollbar.
When I changed out the stock rally's to Cragar's we discovered that my new 79 has a broken wheel stud on the left rear wheel. So far the Firestone store won't touch it. The Chevy dealer says it will most likely take about 4 hours to fix a $4.00 wheel stud. Anybody know for sure? Experiences?

If the rotor is still riveted to the axle, you have to drill the rivets out, remove the rotor, and the wheel stud should knock out. I suppose the 4 hour quote from the dealer includes the time for this.
If it were on the front, it's not as difficult, but the rears have the parking brakes right behind the studs.
Bottom line, it really isn't that difficult.

One you drive the old one out, put the new one in place and lube several washers and slide over the new stud. Put a nut on the stud, and tighten the nut. It will pull the new stud in place. When it is seated on the backside take off the nut and washers.
The washers and lube act as a bearing to help the nut turn and the bolt pull in. They also allow enough space so the nut does not bottom on the bolt as it's tightened.

yeah but pulling the parking brakes is a PITA...
if I was doing this.. I would replace all the wheel studs and it would probably take 4 hours..
I would remove the lower tension spring on the parking brakes and then remove the adjuster.. this would give you room to knock out the studs without too much trouble..
and by doing it this way you dont have to remove the brake shoe keeper springs.. they are the biggest PITA..
