I have noticed when I hit a bump I can hear what sounds like the front brake pads rattling. When I hit a bump with the brakes applied, I don’t hear the rattle. My brakes work fine. What causes this?

Sounds like its time for new pads, you can get isolaters that stick onto the pads that will stop, the rattle and noise.

The brake pads "float" in the calipers. You will sometimes hear them "tick" as you drive, especially if you're in between two buildings. That noise is just the pads moving against the caliper, and the pin.
You should check all of the attaching hardware to be safe, tho. Make sure none of the bolts that hold the caliper are loose.

One other thing to check....your ignition shielding rattling on the manifolds. I need to rebend a tab or two every couple of years to tighten up the fit.
