Getting ready to order brake components for my 78 but have a question about the pads.
My present pads are in excellent condition (almost new) except the R rear pads, the caliper leaked slightly but enough to soak the pad with fluid. Will the fluid burn out of the pads on this rear caliper or should I replace. As I said, the pads are perfect other than this one set being fluid wet.
Thanks.....

Just replace the pads, the brake fluid soaked pads will cause the brakes to not work correctly. It will pull to the side that is not soaked. Besides that even if you pay $100.00 for the set of pads, isn;'t that cheeper than replacing the vette? While your at it, just replace the suspect calipers as well. Small investments to keep your car and more importantly you safe on the road. Mike Huss691981 2008-04-08 08:11:05

I just replaced my LF caliper because it was leaking and had soaked the pads. I got a new set of pads and 2 pair come in a box. Replaced both the L&R front pads to make sure everything stayed even. Better to be safe than sorry.

They come in axle sets so i'm gonna bite it and replace all of em. I have already honed the sleeves and ordered new pistons and seals along with new brake lines....stainless steel park brake shoes and springs ...sooooo, why stop at da pads...
...The calipers are SS sleeved and in excellent condition other than the sleeves needed honed for perfection. ... Rich
