Just finished installing the Borgeson steering box upgrade on my C3 and took it for a test drive. What a difference!! I am so pleased with the results as it now feels like a normal power steering set up. No more tired arms from cranking the wheel around. Thanks C3VR forum for advise.

Hello,

Glad the steering box worked out for you!

I have a few questions regarding the install.  Disregarding the power steering aspect of the install, how was the basic box removal and re-install?  Any issues with pitman arm?  How about the heft of the box itself in removal and re-install?

I have standard steering on my car.  I will be working on the steering box at some point soon also, so any tips would be welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

Old unit came out ok and was not that heavy. I removed the pitman arm on the bench with a wheel puller. I removed the alternator to give me more room and access to power steering pump. The new steering box is heavy and you need long arms to hold it and insert one of the mounting bolts ( or get a helper). You have to center the travel on the new steering box before attaching the pitman arm. I removed the steering column and shortened it on the bench. You tap it in with a hammer on the center rod. You n eed a new rag joint as the shaft diameter on the new steering box is bigger. Overall conversion not that bad.
