hi guys, i was wondering how can you tell if your car was definately a big block car? it,s not #,s matching but it has a 454, i guess my question is could it have had a 350 and they put in a 454. the vin #,s show v8 but how do you know big block or not? thanks!!, butch

There are hints, but all could be changed after the fact as well...the redline on the tach is specific for specific engines, the console data plate, the emissions sticker under the hood, how the radiator and expansion tank are set up, pieces of the suspension...their size or whether they're even there. Lots of things can tell you and not every year is the same.

There are several differences as Bruce stated.
Another is that all big block Corvettes had a rear sway bar. Is there one or any signs of one?
Also, what are the codes on the bottom of the rear differential? This may give you an answer also.
