Vette(s): 1969 Coupe,427/390hp Numbers car, Cortez Silver, original interior..some works some doesnt. I am very new to this so I am taking it slow!
Looking to redo the exhaust on my 69 427/390 hp. Will keep origninal manifolds and am looking for classic car sound that is not too loud or raspy.

Really looking for a good clean muscle car sound that is not over the top, any help would be appreciated

Are you trying to keep the car correct? If so, you'll need to get an original equipment type system. That can be loud enough. My '69 427/435 has the correct type system and it shakes the ground. When going to a show some time back an employee at the show sponsor said when I drive around the building his ceiling tiles started falling down.

If you want something a little different, decide on whether you want really loud or lower and more mellow. For really loud muscle car sound go with Flowmaster. For a more mellow sound go with Magnaflow. You can go to their websites and listen to some examples of their products.

If you don't want stock & mine isn't go to a good muffler shop & have them form a cutom 2'1/2" dual exhaust with muffler of your choice. Had mine done a few yrs back for $450.00.

Man I wanted a 427/435 so bad I could taste it....wallet wouldnt even look at it!

Thanks for your feedback...I think I will stay with the stock set up to keep it right since the rest of the car is.
