The harmonic balancer on my 77,L-48,original balancer, measures 6.75" diameter. Jegs has a nice inexpensive balancer for my motor but is advertised as a 7" in their catalog. Will it work for me? Thanks for all help,Mikee. BTW,I forgot to wish all youz guys a healthy new year....drive safe

What part # are you coming up with Mike?
I see a a listing for both the 6.75" and the 7" balancer on their online catalog. If your car has a 6.75" balancer I would stick with that.

Not a good idea to change the diameter of the damper(balancer). They make them that way for a reason.
Don't know what you consider "inexpensive", but you can usually get new damper at just about any parts house, or engine re-man place, for around $40 or so. That's purdy cheap insurance, IMO. I've replaced the dampers on all of the engines I've done in the last 15-20 years. I figure $40 is way cheaper than pulling the engine and replacing the crank again, or replacing the front end of a car that the old damper cut in two...
That being said, alway stick with the same diameter/thickness damper, unless you are having an engine balanced...then it doesn't make that much difference what size it is.

Joel is dead on. But also consider, a larger balancer will hit the timing mark indicator, and perhaps other items as well. Not a good idea.
