Vette(s): 1972 Convertible, A/C, with matching numbers. Sunflower yellow.
Hi,
I'm replacing the emergency parking brake shoes and I need to remove the backing plate so I can place one of the spring retaining pins through the back. Can I remove this without messing with any of the suspension??? It looks like I can but I just want to be sure. Another question... should I replace or repack the rear wheel bearings while I have the calipers off. I don't have any noticable problems with them but I don"t know how long ago they were serviced... I know the job is a pita...

No ,you can't take it off ,unless you take the bearing housing off of the trailing arm
