How did you get to the 9 1/26 nut inder the base.Would a claw foot that goes on your ractchet work.I know a few things things have to be moved out of the way first but that nut has me puzzled.

An extended Crow's foot wrench should get it. A normal sized one may not get around the can of the sending unit.

Michael, did the crows foot on a ratchet extension work or did you have to use something else? I have to change the sending unit on my 82 and was dreading it because its so difficult to get to.
