My 78 L82 has a non standard air cleaner. The 79 that I had had a duel snorkel intake system. Was a duel snorkel available in 78? I know a single snokel was available in 78.

Which is better for performance, the stock duel snokel or an aftermarket air cleaner?

The dual snorkel, if you use both of the fresh air tube/hoses, will give you cooler, more dense air into the carb/intake. If your aftermarket air cleaner is the "open" type, it will suck up a lot of engine compartment heat. ...so the dual snorkel is better, but you really won't be able to tell much difference while driving.
