My vette has a big air filter that looks like a spare tire and I want to change to a smaller one. Does the size of the air cleaner make a big difference? Elderbrock makes a smell sweet one.

Filtering capacity does make some difference. The more it can draw the better it can breath and run, but there's always a limit to that. It can generally run equally up to the capacity of the filter for any given speed and power level. It's when your engine's need for air exceeds the capability of the air cleaner/filter.
For general driving, it probably doesn't make much difference at all. Especially if you use a K&N air filter element which can outflow most filter elements the same size.
Buy that Edelbrock air filter and you'll likely be very happy.

The overall diameter of the filter is important on our cars due to the limited amount of space available for a taller element. You don't want to go too small, diameter-wise, or you could start choking the engine air. That being said, Gunslinger's recommendation of the K&N filter is a good one. They do flow WAY more air than a similarly sized paper element. You could still get the Edelbrock filter base/top, and a K&N element, and have the best of both worlds.

well Adams ,its big enough to say goodyear. I looked at the edelbrock elete and I liked it. It was a 14 inch. I think I want to go with the 10 inch or the triangle one. Thanks a lot for the advise fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
