Hello, new here, first post.
I bought a 1978 Corvette pace care, new engine rebuild. I love the car, runs great.
The issue is I have trouble starting it. It has a new starter and battery. I have to press the gas pedal 4-5 times, 3 times then it starts. Once it warms up, no problems with starting. If it is cold, I have to go through that gas pedal drill. The carb is a new Edelbrock. Is this a fuel pump issue? It seems that there is no gas in the carb when I start it cold. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Take the air cleaner off w/ the engine off after an overnight period. With the choke held open, open the throttle wide open and see if the accelerator pump squirts fuel. If it doesn't, then the carb is leaking down over nite. If it does, then your problem is elsewhere.
Also check to make sure the choke slams shut w/ a cold engine and when throttle is opened. A cold engine w/ no choke will require a lot of pumping of the accelerator to start.
