I got something one of you can help with. When KLJ did the mods.for the upgrade  They handed me my sheild for the dist.and wires. It wont fit the dip stick is in the way.I need one to fit. I do two way radio from my car and the shield is important to me. Will one from an 82 fit. Can I make mine fit. The 700r upgrade was good for 135.0 miles Must have got the only bad one in stock. Mine stoped working.KLJ came and got it. Trans has 2 year warnty on it. Now Im getting two free upgrades from the trans shop. Ill have it back soon. It got real good gas miles and felt like a new car. My 350 was on its way out anyway.Ouch

The '82 dipstick and tube will fit, and clear the ign shielding. Good luck finding one that is actually for an '82. Chances are, you'll wind up tweaking what you have to make it fit around the shielding.

The problem with these 700 swaps, 90% of the time, is the TV(throttle valve) cable adjustment, and the geometry of the linkage on the carb for the cable. Any TV controlled trans must have proper cable operation in order to control the fluid pressures inside the trans. The 350s, and 400s used a vacuum modulator to do this, but the 700(and 2004R) needs the cable.
Hope they get it taken care of for ya, and you have many more happy driving miles with it!

I may have the shielding from my '82, don't use it with the new engine. I'll have to look around this week end, if I find it it's yours. I'll get back to you.
