I have recently purchased a 1969 L36 (427/390 hp) and am tackling the mechanical issues first. The car was leaking Power Steering hydraulic fluid in several places so I had the PS hydraulic cylinder and control value replaced and installed a new hose kit.  While the leaks have stopped there is still more "play" in the steering than I would like. Any suggestions on what I can do to reduce the amount of play in the steering or is this just something to live with/get use to with a 37 year old car? Any sugggestions/advice is appreciated.

check your rag joint to see how worn it is. It's located where the steering column meets the steering box. Or it could be the steering box itself. You can buy a rebuild kit or buy one already rebuild't. My rag joint needed to be replaced, had the same problem.

After you check or replace the rag joint, dont forget the ground line from one part of the column to the other or your horn wont work.
