I know its been done, but of course I haven't done it. I sure could use it with the 3:55 gears I have it would keep the R's down on the highway. I hope you get some infor here I'll also check around.

Eckler's lists a Richmond 5-speed that apparently bolts in, but I wouldn't trust their description alone and it's pretty expensive (like all Eckler's prices). The ultimate solution would be a T-56 from a late model Camaro, Corvette, or Viper. Those trannies are plenty stout. They are the most trouble-free and reliable component on any late model Camaro or Corvette. There are a couple of swap kits for T-56s into first generation Camaros. It should at least be possible to adapt one of those kits to any engine in a C3. The remaining issues may include tunnel clearance, the shifter location, and exhaust clearance. For more info on T-56 swaps into Camaros, you can visit www.chevyhiperformance.com and search through the CHP tech articles. Good luck.
