All you 383 owners have come out and given your gas mileage, how about the ZZ4 owners? I am trying to make my decision on which way to go, I love the torque of the 383 and with my 308 gears would be a blast but 8-9 mpg scares me.

Gee...if you're scared of 8-9 mpg you should try my 427/435 with 4.10 gears...you'd have an orgasm over the torque and tree stump pulling power but would have a coronary over the 6mpg when simply driving it gently!

My 2 cents is Fire Breathin Performance vs Stingy Gas Mileage................ Me I'd go for performance when the gas gauge reads E go fill it. We own Corvette's..........What is gas mileage

think you need an LT-1 with a little raccoon mask for the driver to wear

I have the ZZ-4 and get 18 to 20 mpg with 336 gears.
That is on a trip at 65-70 mph.
Around town you don't want to know.

I'm putting in my ZZ4 as we speak, so I have no imput on gas milage, but I picked it because with 355HP and over 400ft/lbs of torque how can you go wrong.

What transmission are you running 767?
You could always upgrade to an overdrive down the road?
My engine is the 350 HO model w/ a LT4 Hot Cam 1.6 RR, which is slightly more aggressive than the ZZ4 and I'm getting 15-16 mpg at 75-80 mph on the highway. 3.08 rearend / 4 spd.
Someday I will put a Keisler 5 speed in it.
For now the GTO is sucking up all the extra funds. The exhaust for that thing was $2k. Thats 2/3 rd's the cost of a Keisler 5 speed!

GEN III 5.7L "LS6" Engine swap
TKO500 5 spd.

TH-350 trans,a month ago I wouldn't of cared about fuel mileage but my wife got layed off from her job after 31 years. They kept employees with alot less time, made less money and had less vacation time. Called it cost cutting, no law against it,they can rehire for her positon at half the cost.Just goes to show how American company's love loyalty. Now I have to cost cut,I drive my Vette as a daily driver all summer and fuel mileage does count to me,wish it didn't like some. My l-48 is using oil and I have to make a decision. Thanks for the info.
