Having 3 gears is awful! At 75mph I'm turning 3500rpm.
Outside of replacing my trans with a 4, 5 or 6 speed, is there anything I can do to reduce the rpms at highway cruising speed? (and don't say "slow down"
)

Well...you could try 3.08 rear gears. My '71 LT1 with 3.70 is about the same in 4th gear, but it sure gets to that speed fast!
My wifes automatic with 3.08 is at about 2200 or so at 75.

You can go to larger dia tires, change your rear end ratio or 5 spd. I spin about the same rpm as you with my 4 speed. Maybe some day I will go to a 5 speed.

Yeah...bout the only thing you can do, short of swapping the trans, would be to go with taller(lower numerically) rear gears. But then, if you go too far, you'll lose low end/take-off power, so it's a trade-off.
Larger tires will help, but not that much, and you can only go so far with that without having clearance issues....
You could disconnect the tach...then you wouldn't know how high the rs are, and it wouldn't bother ya...

Joel is right about larger tires not helping all that much... we put (and i'll have to go double check) 275/60's(original should be 235/60) on the back, they were about an inch or so taller, little bit wider too and seemed to be about as big as we could fit in the wheel well, reduced the cruising rpm's by about 200 rpms(3.70 rear gear, 60mph is about 2600rpm)... which, may help out just a little in the long run...

You could mount an ASD on the car. It's new technology just
coming out on the automotive market. This is cutting edge space-age
materials only available at select centers in th U.S.
The ASD is installed using isolation mounts to reduce buffeting at high speeds. The recommended deployment velocity is 68-74 mph. Current testing shows gains of up to 31% in fuel economy in optimum conditions.
