I need help. I am replacing the engine in my 81 which has a single groove water pump pulley. Without the smog pump the a/c belt does not have a pulley to route it around the water pump. I cannot put it below the pump as the belt would rub the bottom of the pump. I have looked everywhere for a 2 groove pulley that would line up with the alternator and a/c. The original pulley is 1&1/2 inches tall with a 3/4 inch grove, so I figure I need a 2&1/4 inch pulley or a 2&3/8 inch pulley that I could use a pulley shim to line it up.

Has anyone else conquered this and how?

Thanks, Ed

HEY ED, I've been checking on this for you but haven't gotten a  answer yet from a buddy of mine.

I found the problem. I bought a water pump for sbc short water pump. 1981 has a corvette only pump. I bought new pump and all the old brackets and belts line up the way they are supposed to.

Should be able to fire it up Saturday. Thanks for checking on it for me.
