Well, my next comment may not be what you want to hear, BUT, it MAY be best to pull the engine, and go with a GM replacement, or a ZZ engine. Then you'll know you have a guarenteed power plant you can depend on. Once and done. The dollar bills sacrificed NOW may save you additional dollar bills LATER. Not to mention the headaches and down time when you want to be pushing pedals and enjoying the ride. May your decision be to your benefit.

Daaaaang! That sux a fat one.....Looks like an oiling problem preceded this. Engine out is the way to go, tho a crank swap CAN be done in the car....but it's a pita to do. If you also have bad rods(as you apparently do), it's best to just go ahead a rip that thing out, and start from scratch.

Right now the plan is to pull the engine and try to determine the extent of the damage. It's been quite a while since I've rebuilt an engine and have been wanting to do one again, just not this car and not this reason. Engine parts seem to be relatively cheap. It's the bad reviews that I am seeing for the local machine shops that is difficult to hear.
