I'm going to look at a 1980 L82 for possible purchase. Is therr any way to determine if the car has the Gymkhana suspension in absence of a build sheet? Thank you - Joe Asselmeier

Look for a rear sway/stabilizer bar, and a thicker than "normal" front sway/stabilizer bar. Either of these could have been added after the car was built, tho. The front bar would be around 3/4" thick on standard suspensions, and around 15/16"  thick on the FE7 cars. The front springs were also stiffer, but without seeing the actual tag on them, it's hard to say what they are. I do belive the rear spring would be a 7 leaf, steel, on the FE7.

FE7 is the rpo for the gymkahana suspension, it includes a larger dia. front sway bar and stiffer front springs.  In 1980 this option was ordered on 9,907 vettes.  There were 5,067 L-82's ordered that year, so chances are good this car very well could be so equiped.  These numbers only suggst that as possible.  MEASURE THE DIA. OF THE FRONT SWAY, IF IT'S 7/8" OR LARGER IT DOES INDEED-fLANDY

Thanks Joel, appreciate your help. I read the same stats in Corvette Black Book thinking my chances of FE7 were good on this L82.  Regards, New member Joe
