Vette(s): Currently own: 1980 L-48 automatic. Custom painted in gray metal flake with silver hood accent. Oyster interior. Previously owned: 1976 silver Sting Ray with black interior. 1980 L-48 black with oyster interior.
While cruising, not while accelerating, there is a very slight hesitation. When the A/C is on, this is more noticeable. Any ideas what is causing this?

Hi Kevin, need a little more description. Do you mean as you are cruising at a steady speed, without depressing the acceleratorthe motor coughs or stutters or something ?

Yes, cruising at a steady speed without depressing the accelerator. It doesn't cough or stutter, just a slight rhythmic hesitation that is more noticeable when the A/C is on. I replaced the fuel filter and it did not improve.
just a slight rhythmic hesitation that is more noticeable when the A/C is on.
Are you sure what your feeling is NOT the A/C compressor kicking in/out?
Other than that, it could be the EGR valve, or the solenoid for it not operating properly....

It also hesitates when the A/C is off, just not as noticeable.

Broke down and took it to a mechanic. EGR Valve was ok, carb was running too lean. Adjusted carb and everything is good. Thanks all for the comments,
