14' offset dropbase air cleaner base needed.
Forum: C3 Engines, Driveline and Handling
Joel, you're absolutely right, except I think you might have assumed I have an early 76 that came originally with the cowl induction. It actually came with the closed element system, but it doesn't really change the story at all. I think the air cleaner elements were the same dimensionally between the two designs.....Sign In to Like this post
I received the air cleaner base the other day and installed it. Works perfectly and clears the electric choke and throttle linkages just fine on the Edelbrock 1806 carb. It clears the hood on my '75 even better then the base I had before.

O.K. Gents. You have conquered a dilema in that area, NOW, does the same possibility exist on a '72 with an even lower hood line. I would like to remove a Q-jet that no one seems to be able to keep working correctly, and put on a E-brock with the needed plate under it. I know my options are next to nill, but am getting discourged.Sign In to Like this post

It should fit fine under the '72 hood. The reason I needed the drop base is I'm running a 7116 Performer RPM Vortec intake which is higher than stock.
