1976 model, wipers only work when washer button is pushed. does not work on high or low speed. have replaced switch and motor. any suggestions? anybody ever have this happen?

Your switch is probably not grounded. It needs to be grounded because the switch sends different grounds to the motor to start it & to go different speeds. I had it happen & lots of others have also.
