How big is the normal gap between the rear edge of the wiper door and the windshield? I can stick my fingers in there. Should it be real close to the glass?

I just looked at both the 69 and 72 and probably less than a 1/4 inch on each of them. I couldn't quite stick an ordinary pencil in between but almost.

Mine is also close. It will also depend on the gap between the wiper door and the vent as well as the vent and the hood. I would prefer a nice close fit in those areas over the one between the glass.

The AIM has instructions for adjusting the wiper door and closing the gap. Wiper door does not sit against the windshield, but it gets down there close.

The chrome trim on the top edge of your fenders should line up with the chrome trim on the wiper door, and wiper door flush with the edge of the fender and forward grill. There are bumper screws to adjust at each side.
