Mine has the same colours but is in the jack compartment, not under the console. I don't need it 'cause I dont have the antenna. I use a flat windscreen antenna which sits just behind the rearview mirror. Let's me have a totally smooth rear deck.

Chips...your '71 wouldn't have an 'lectrical antenna...unless someone put it on there. The connector in your rear compartment is probably for the alarm system relay. If the car was original equipped with the alarm, the relay, and the flasher would be in the pass. side rear compartment, under the storage box.

Maybe that's why my "Trunk Lock Key Hole" doesn't work? I've been trying to get the trunk to open for years..........
I've got all the bits for it (even the horn next to where the radio ant usually is) but don't need it here.

That's a messy job for a sawzall...might be better/quicker to use a torch...who knows what you'll find when ya get that thing open...
